Changing trim tilt unit on Honda BF90, a tale of tears.
Jun 25, 2012 · Loosened the left stern bracket and removed the hex bolt running through the lower cylinder collar (lcc). This is when I discovered that the lcc protruded 14mm from the power trim tilt assembly. With a lot of effort managed to force the brackets apart enough and drop the old trim tilt assembly out. Now to remove the lcc.

Will 2 different manufactures outboards of the same hp and shaft length match up to the holes already in my transom? Also is there a published template of the standard pattern/s? Thanks

Re: Bolts for mounting motor to transom If you have access to an ACE or True Value Hardware, I would use stainless 1/2" bolts, washers and nylock nuts. Coat the inside of the holes with 3M 5200 sealant before installation. A transom plate is a good idea.
