Oct 21, 2010 · A Hobie Magnum was basically a base Hobie 18 plus the shorter welded constructin wings. These were from the mid 80's primarily. The Hobie 18SX, has the longer riveted together wings, taller mast, Mylar sail and was available with a big spin. All three came with a trapeeze setup for two.

Feb 9, 2015 · Considering buying an 18 magnum project boat. At first inspection It looked like under all the dirt it can be revived. Found no soft spots even in the common places. First, I really want to here from some that have have both boats. i am a very experienced 18 sailor who has never owned a cat with wings, will I like the wings.

Oct 19, 2011 · I'm looking at $1200 for an 18 in good condition or $3000 for an 18sx with wings, both have trailers. Is the sx worth the extra dough? Any thoughts appreciated.
