It depends on the institution you attend. In most cases, yes, it's fairly easy to maintain. A 3.0 is incredibly easy to maintain at most universities. It's not the coursework that'll be the challenge though, it'll be taking personality responsibility for managing your life.

I got into Columbia's MS Data Science - one of the most competitive cohorts to get into, with a 7.0/10 (about 2.8/4). This is one of the most GPA-centric programs in an any top University - none of the students in the batch have below 8.8/10 and most have 9.2+ /10.

Sure, a 3.8 is a fantastic GPA, but if you have no experience or skills outside of school, they'll hire a 3.0 who does, instead of you. Keep above a 3.0 and get some good experience and you'll be set. 3.0 is baseline for “good”. Around 3.5ish is really good.
