  1. Pepino melon is the fruit of the evergreen shrub Solanum muricatum that’s native to the Andes mountains of South America. It also goes by many other names including sweet cucumber, pepino fruit, pepino dulce, melon pear and tree melon.
    Pepino melon is a fruit from Peru, and although it looks like a melon, it is not a real melon, because it grows as an evergreen shrub rather than a vine. However, some of the current species are similar to other nightshade plants grown for their fruits, including those that are very similar to the pecan plant, such as pecans and Cucumis melo.
