When things are going my way, it’s easy to believe You are trustworthy. But when things fall apart, my trust in You wavers as I struggle to understand what You are doing. Today I choose to trust You with what I cannot see, do not know, do not want and am afraid of. I surrender to You the outcomes and plans I have for the way my life should go.

When we have Jesus, we have all we really need for today and eternity. Look anywhere else for perfection, and you will never find it. Look to any other person as a model of flawless loveliness, and you will inevitably be disappointed.

The only thing Jesus calls us to do, to work at, to put effort into, is surrender to Him. If we are doing that, then we don’t have to worry so much about all the other things we are doing … or not doing.

My challenge for you today, friend, is to recount all the times you’ve experienced God’s faithful provision in the past — and ask Him to reveal if fear of disappointment is keeping you from asking for and receiving the abundance He has for you! Father, help me believe that Your plans for me are better than I can imagine.
