Suwon (Korean : 수원; Korean pronunciation: [su.wʌn]) is the largest city and capital of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea's most populous province. The city lies approximately 30 km (19 mi) south of the national capital, Seoul.

Suwon is a city and provincial capital in Gyeonggi province, northwestern South Korea. Since the late 14th century it has been a satellite town of Seoul, 26 miles (42 km) to the north, to which it is connected by rail and highway.

Traditionally known as the "City of Filial Piety," Suwon is located about 30 kilometers south of Seoul and is bordered by Uiwang City to the north, Yongin City to the east, Hwaseong City to the south and southwest, and Ansan City to the west. Suwon is a major industrial and cultural center in Korea.
