Apr 25, 2008 · Have to agree in general that modern steel coatings have reduced much of the maintenance required. I am quite surprised by how little maintenance has been required with Raven. Re the streaks , we have an Alejuela 39 on the mooring next to Raven and she weeps rust stains from her chain plates and stanchions as badly as anything on Raven.

In my research for affordable sailing, I have found some boats I didn't even know existed. The Holder/Vagabond 17, (early/mid eighties) is a great little sailboat, and an Oday 192 or 19, also mid eighties) are worth consideration.

(a new 15hp Nissan outboard and a few oil changes along the way) The traffic on the VHF from the river boats was all about "The little tiny sailboat" going down the river.

Sep 11, 2008 · Raven is a fin without a skeg and she backs up like a car. Coming off the cradle after she has been up I can reverse her out of the channel and out to her mooring without a problem. A most endearing feature. I'm also not sure of the science but I think its got more to do with the uncluttered distance between the prop and rudder than prop walk.

Nov 11, 2014 · I believe time spent sailing is directly related to how easy a boat is to set up, particularly a sailboat. Therefore, I leave mine on a trailer at a marina with the mast up at a local lake. If I had to set up the mast every time I wanted to sail, or to deal with a significant keel that make loading and unloading a problem, I would sail less.

I usually just type a word I want to use as the link, like LINK, or HERE, and then highlight it and paste the URL into the box that appears when I click on the link icon (globe like thing with two chain links) in the tool bar.
