Excel opens book 2 - Microsoft Community
Aug 17, 2010 · Recently whenever I open Excel 2007 it opens an additional blank worksheet (book2). I checked the xlstart folder (both the programs & user one) and there is nothing in them. Any Ideas?

Nov 19, 2014 · Every time I open an existing Excel spreadsheet I get a Book1 file opened too that is blank. I am currently using: Microsoft Office Standard 2010. Excel version 14.0.6129.5000. On Windows 7. Anyone know how to stop this from happening?
When starting Excel book1 opens, closes, and book2 opens
Jun 22, 2013 · Book2 then behaves as Book1 usually does, in that it closes if it hasn't been used when another file is opened. It's not really a problem, just a bit of an annoyance and a worry that it is a symptom of a larger issue. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what causes it and how to stop it?
