After the fatal shooting of a Salem high schooler last March — and rising concerns of gun violence in schools across the country today — Salem-Keizer Public Schools leaders say they need another layer of prevention to protect students.

An Oregon school district on Thursday asked Sen. Ted Cruz’s, R-Texas, campaign to take down two ads targeting transgender athletes because the ads include a photograph of two minors who are not transgender and whose parents did not give the Cruz campaign permission to use the photo.
