Crews are continuing to battle the Hawthorne Fire as it burns for a seventh day and a statewide burn ban remains in effect on Sunday. In an update Saturday, Berlin fire officials said good progress had been made on the north side of the fire.

Fire officials said hot ash from an abandoned campfire is likely what sparked a massive brush fire that started in Berlin on Monday night. Firefighters continue to work around the clock to battle the Hawthorne Fire for a fifth day.

Officials are again asking people to abide by the temporary flight restriction that's in order near the fire so it doesn't hamper operations.
