Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane, who signed a contract extension with the franchise before the season, could find himself on the trade block if the team is out of playoff contention as the deadline approaches.

DETROIT -- Patrick Kane broke a tie with 3:32 remaining in the third period, and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-3 at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday. Kane made it 4-3 with a power-play goal when his wrist shot from the point went under the right arm of New Jersey goalie Jacob Markstrom.
