As multiple agencies respond to brush fires across Connecticut on Saturday morning, emergency crews are still battling a six-day brush fire in Berlin. Firefighters also responded to a brush fire on Ayers Mountain, where access was challenging as firefighters could only get to the area on foot.

Fire officials said hot ash from an abandoned campfire is likely what sparked a massive brush fire that started in Berlin on Monday night. Firefighters continue to work around the clock to battle the Hawthorne Fire for a fifth day.

Since Saturday, Connecticut has seen seven brush fires, including a massive blaze that resulted in the death of a firefighter in Berlin.
